Information and
History
Approaching
the town centre, this section of North Seaton Road is flanked by shops
on either side, especially on Labernum Terrace.
This
area brings back many memories as I used to live and play in the back
street to the row of shops you can see on the right during the late 60's
early 70's.
One
of our favourite pastimes was playing the pinball machines in Tait's Ice
Cream shop or simply staring at the motorbikes in Mains window. Other
shops I can recall were Oliver's the tv/radio and record shop,
Rediffusions (bought our first colour telly from there). Can also
remember McMeakins the Dentist (closed now) especially that flight of
stairs leading up to the waiting room. Still brings on a shudder when I
look back....
Also
across the road used to be a Wood/Model shop and a Barbers but can't
recall their names...any idea's?
